I have Comcast Phone, and you can go on your account and fwd up to 12 numbers to go to a different number. I send them to a non working number. :)
Same scenerio - pressed 9 for more info....Very nice up front - asked what card it was for - They stated "CardMember Services" which is valid for some credit card companies but not all..however he then stated the work for over 572 various banks and services. I find this impossible since every bank is out to make their own money. I asked for more details on how they got my number, and specifically which cards he could reduce my rates on, he stated that since I was in such good standing with my payments they could reduce my interest rates and help me pay down my balances. He would not discuss the card specifics, obviously he didnt have anything. Here is the catch, I pay all my bills off at the end of the month, I have no recurring credit debt - he didn't know it. When I finally ASKED what number I could call him back at to ensure this was not a scam, HE HUNG UP. Surprise, surprise........
My phone carrier lets me block phone calls. I just go to their web page when I get a call like this and block the number. I have a long list phone numbers I have blocked.
