Educational post:
You may have been exposed to scam # 17, as described here:

Remember to return here, to 800notes.com, after you look at any of the information at that site, either to post more information, or to let us know you avoided the scam, or to read any further information about that number that others may post.
After contacting payPal, they informed me this is a common "phishing" scam where the next step is they deposit money into my account for the shipping fee (which never really goes in, but looks like it did) and then have me reimburse them the money back, either through Western Union or paying the driver directly. Then the money never clears PayPal. I also posted this on the FBI internet fraud site, but I don't hold out much hope they'll have success. I contacted the buyer and said the car was purchased already by a neighbor.
My friend received the texts below from "Steve". After several texts back n forth my friend told him to call because he was suspicious, but he hasn't gotten a reply back. I'm glad I googled the number & found this. Thanks to u all for sharing ur "near-dealings" with this joker ~ confirms our suspicions!
"Hi, My name is Steve, Is your vehicle still available for sale. I would like to know is present condition and how much is your asking price?"
"Thanks for the swift response and i would like to know your final asking price?"
"I'm ok with your asking price, I have a carrier agent coming to look at the vehicle after payment has been done. Do you have paypal?"
