Same here just got a text from someone named Steve who wrote the same things as above.....i won't deal with paypal, checks or wires ....only cashiers check or cash....too many scams out there.
Just got the text from Steve with all the some BS hes been feeding everyone. I dont get how they can sign the paperwork for ownership and still scam you but when I asked for money or personal check he just repeated his initial text again. its a SCAM watch out!! (posted on cars.com)
Listed my car on cars.com & received a text from a guy named "Steve" saying the same as listed above.. As soon as he asked about a PayPal account, we had a feeling it was a scam.. We Googled the number that the text came from and came across this post.. Thank you everyone for your comments and post.. I hope others do research on private sales before taking a transaction... Wish something could be done to this person for trying to scam people!!
Steve has been very busy. I too was contacted via text message. He is still using the same script. Broken English, use of a handler, distant area code, unwillingness to pay cash or money order were all signs of scam for me.
