Same here just got a text from someone named Steve who wrote the same things as above.....i won't deal with paypal, checks or wires ....only cashiers check or cash....too many scams out there.
I listed my car on cars.com and received a text msg from this phone number at 3:50 AM. My initial response was skeptic because they were asking questions that were given in the ad. I also listed the car for $1500 over value. They did not quibble the price and went on with the same paypal wording and shipper agent scam.
First thing I've done is removed my phone number from the ad. I've have sold cars and closed mortgage loans with our military deployed over seas. They always have a POA appointed for such occasions.
It is a travesty that scammers out there are trying to tarnish the integrity and sacrifice our military men and woman give every day. I wish they would track such people down and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law!!!
Same here. Listed on multiple sites...cars.com being one of them. I'm very familiar with craigslist and PayPal scams. Read this and sent the following to him after he asked about my paypal account and the agent to be sent out. I've also been in I.t for a few years and hoped to scare him a bit.
"Funny I knew you were gonna say that. You've scammed the wrong I.T. guy. So I found some info on you "Steve". You were going proceed to tell me that you'll pay me via PayPal via phishing scam payment so you get a free car. You have been tracked and reported to the fbi. Have a nice day."

its funny i got a tx from the same number as everyone else here. I knew something was up when he could not write proper English lol. I txed cash money talks paypal walks. right then he gave up what a scam beware of 407-289-8142.
Got the same text from the same #. I called the sender back- and its a "text only number"! Red flag! It tells me immediately that this is a scam. Be careful, it's a jungle out there!
