Dear Annoyed, I would advise anyone who gets a call from these people to hang up on them or not answer their calls to begin with. If you inadvertently do answer their call, hang up on them and do not reveal any information to them. These people are unscrupulous. They also call from many, many different numbers in different states. I stopped answering calls from numbers I don't recognize because of these people. They were calling me about a debt that was removed from my credit report years ago, so they're SOL as far as collecting from me -- not gonna happen!
actually freecreditreport costs money. Annualcreditreport is free. I have gotten 4 diff calls today from 3 diff numbers. I click ignore on my phone then do a reverse look-up on line. They are trying to get something that was written off by the original company who got a tax credit for it over 15 years ago. I refuse to acknowledge them by talking to them.
What happened to the ones that you were not able to remove? I was told that these companies who buy the charge-off have the right to collect even though the debt is no longer on your credit report.
