I received this same call at our business. They said that Verizon was lowering some fees from $14.00 to $4.00 and our long distance from .15 to
.09 and that there was a leaflet in our last telephone bill explaining the
new fees. I cut him off saying the last time I got a similar call we were slammed. He said this is not a sales call, but they had to verify
some information. I said I would look at our last month's statement and
call myself if I was interested. He is going to call back. The caller
ID said LDTS. I won't answer this call again. Also, if the phone co. is going to lower the rates, shouldn't they just do it? They don't need my
permission!!!!
I got a call from these folks too, pretending to be Verizon, etc., etc. First they asked if I was over 18, for "verification purposes," then they asked if I was born after 1935. When they asked me my date of birth, I had finally caught on that these guys were criminals, and I told them I'd need to verify their identity/credentials before I'd give out any personal information about myself -- at which point, they mumbled something then hung up on me. Scammers? Identity thiefs? They're definitely up to something! (And they're not being terribly smart about it....)
I saw on my caller ID that someone from this number and named LTDS called today. When I attempted to call the number, there is a bunch of static and I get an operator saying "I'm sorry, your call did not go through." Thanks everyone! I will not be answering this call.
