I just got one of these calls today. Same story about a free nights stay at a Hilton in Manhattan or Orlando. I WORK for Hilton but have no idea what this call is about. Dont trust it. I am reporting it to Hilton today.
I got a call from 407-722-3532 this morning. They caught me off guard and I didn't hang up like I usually do. Claimed to have some free rooms for promotions at Hiltons (although I've never stayed at a Hilton). I answered some low-threat questions to see what their scam was going to be. After a while they asked me to place my category of yearly income into A,B, or C for different ranges of income. I asked why that was important and they said for marketing reasons. I answered to place myself in the lowest category, very suspicious at this point but still believing I was protecting myself with the vague answer. They next said there was an error in the system and they'd have to get back to me later. If they got any worthy/exploitable information out of me, I'm not sure what it was. definitely smells fishy.
Got the call on my cell phone, called it back just now and it is the "Hilton Grand Vacations customer response line." I have never received a random telemarketing call on my cell before, plus my cell # is on the "no call" list, so not sure what to make of this. But I am annoyed, that's for sure.
This is a Hilton Marketing number. If you have stayed there, you'll be getting a call. Avoid answering, they talk fast and get you into buying a vacation.
