Just received a call from this number.It came up on my television screen. I never answer any calls that I'm not familiar with. No message left on my answering machine so assume that is not legitimate. It came up showing UTILITIES FL.
Scammers can put any caller phone number and Id they want to display on a person's phone. Scammers sometimes use legit business phone numbers, without business approval of course. The scammers know many check out unknown numbers and use legit numbers to lull victims into a false sense of security and may answer the phone the next time thry call. They hope to get a dummy to talk to the next time they call who will give them credit/debit card and other info. It just takes a few dummies to buy their phony scam to score a nice paycheck for themselves. Reporting to FTC will not do a thing because they are receiving thousands of calls about phone scams- too many and not enough law enforcers. The scammers feel free to continue with impunity.
This number called my CELL PHONE number first. I do not answer any caller I do not recognize since I figure if something is important, a message will be left. My cell no longer stopped ringing than my HOME PHONE rang with this same 407-830-1565 number showing on caller ID. Both times the ID only said "Florida Call." This totally hacks me off that these people have BOTH my numbers!
I get these kinds of calls all the time from various numbers. I just let answering machine pick up when I don't recognize a name/number, at which time they hang up. After doing this for a few weeks, they finally give up and don't call back. Unfortunately, other bogus callers take their place. It's a vicious circle and until someone discovers a way to eliminate these illegal calls, we just have to deal with it.
