I have recieved about 50 calls in the last 2 days from various numbers. When I do answer, it is always a thick Indian accent and trying to give me something I have won. How do I get these calls to stop? I called my cell phone company and blocked 4 numbers, the most frquently used, but calls still come in...
Do Not Call listing only works with legitimate companies.
1. Don't answer calls from phone #'s you don't recognize. Legit callers leave legit messages.
2. I Google their phone # to see if they are reported as spammers/scammers
3. On my cell, I add them ALL to my contact listing as "z spammer" + add same ringtone to them all.
4. They will attempt as least a couple of other times before spoofing a new phone #.
Then when I hear that particular ringtone or "z spammer" I know not to answer.
If no one ever answers their calls, they can't stay in business - DON'T ANSWER
Well Tiffany is now the spokesperson for Credit Card Services. She keeps telling me this is my final warning, but apparently I have an unlimited number of final warnings stocked up as Tiffany keeps calling back. Amazingly enough, Tiffany sounds just like Anne from Credit Card Services and a different telephone number that used to call me. Guess its a family run business. Oh well, if I knew how to cut down my supply of final warnings, I would, but then that would be one less person they would have to call, bless their hearts.
"Card Services" is part of an identity theft ring. They call from many numbers, which are not their real numbers, but faked ones ("spoofed"). Never answer these unknown calls. Never press 1. For more information on the Card Services scam, see this message from the Attorney General of Minnesota:
You're right...it takes time but the calls eventully stop if the phone just rings. I turned off my answering machine a couple of years ago and let all 800, 877, 866 and unknown numbers ring off the hook and now I don't get any of calls anymore. Some of them try to call maybe a couple of months later but for the most part the idiots eventually stop calling.
