I have recieved about 50 calls in the last 2 days from various numbers. When I do answer, it is always a thick Indian accent and trying to give me something I have won. Called today, "final notice" to lower card interest. I got a flunkie, I told her they're being reported to DNC, and not to call again. And now I'm off to report to DNC, referencing this page, as always.
My call came through with a Maryland Area Code (410). Same experience as those who were called, as listed above.
While it doesn't harm anything to report these to "donotcall.gov," the MORE EFFECTIVE method is to report them to the Federal Communications Commission ( www.fcc.gov ) and fill out the form provided for harassing phone calls. It takes only a couple of minutes to fill out the information on that form.
The FCC has the federal government responsibility to aggregate complaints like these, and then investigate the perpetrators, bring them to court and fine them.
All other actions only allow you to air your grievance BUT to no avail.
