Received several messages from this # called back today spoke to someone with an accent by the name of Wilbur claiming to be from the IRS with phones ringing in the background, wanted the name of my attorney; I asked why & then he hung up!
Never identified to whom they were calling. Just said call back "JUlie Smith,IRS" or they would take action.Did not call back checked # on line and read other posts. Knew not from IRS they send letters.
I did not return the call. I received it twice today once at 9:56 AM and again at 1:43PM. I have two numbers that ring on this one instrument with no defining ring, but I would guess I received one call on each number. I'm checking this number because I assume IRS does not contact this way and I would have heard from before URGENCY stage by mail.
Caller named Sam Taylor sounded like a machine with a foreign accent. Voice message was left saying he's from the Tax Litigation Department and for me to call back before legal action takes place due to a deficiency in my tax income. So bogus.
Called saying they were the IRS and wanted $6,000 and they were going to arrest me if I didn't pay. Hung after I asked for case number and his name and contact info.
