i got this call at 6am. I pay my taxes so this was suspicious right away. I googled this number and got results right away that this is a scam.
I'm glad you have taken the time to research this number and not fall victim to this horrible and scary extortion. I really hate people like this. Making ends meet is already a challenge. Take care and report your incident.
This is an IRS Scam number. A client received a call from it. I had already consulted her that it was a scam. When I called the number and the man said he was with the IRS I asked for his IRS agent # and he hung up on me!
These fools called again. This time a woman instead of the guy with the Indian accent Amazing that some people are fooled by these people. the IRS never calls you, theysend a letter.
Someone with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be an IRS agent (who can barely speak any English) called me and told be that I failed to pay any income taxes the last three years and that I now face 5 years in prison.
(I knew right away it was a scam so I decided to play along)
So he asked me to confirm my name and I said Jose Gomez. He then said Mr. Gomez, here are the charges against you. Number 1......blah blah, (as he continued to barely read the charges in English, I can hear like 100 Indians in the background doing the same thing). When he finally finished, I told him that I was really scared and didn't want to go to prison. He said I should be, so he said he would now then transfer me to his supervisor and he would explain to me how to fix this.
When the "supervisor" picked up, he said "you know why we are calling you right?! And I said "Yeah, you guys owe me some money for wasting my time" and he replied "^&* ^&*(* " and hung up!
