i got this call at 6am. I pay my taxes so this was suspicious right away. I googled this number and got results right away that this is a scam.

We were called by a very officious sounding woman who called herself June Smith representing the IRS. The number she gave is in the San Francisco area. This is a horrendous scam, and I could see how her tone of voice and threat of legal action from the IRS would frighten people. Too bad these callers cannot spend a little time intimidating their jail mates.

received voicemail message stating it was the IRS calling about an urgent matter; the message said we should return their call before they begin actions to collect money; we didn't bother to call it back because it sounded like a hoax; this is the number that was given in the message 415-234-9489
