I received a call from the Association of Police Officers stating that I was being congratulated for donating to the association. Only problem is, I haven't donated to anything in over 2 years...
All of a sudden after that, he hung up. Number returns as "not in service" when returned the call
A man addressed me by first name...wanted donation to the Police Association...said all donations go to police dept.... noticed several other calls prior....by same caller ID>..
Received a call from this number on 2/15 @ ~6pm. Picked up and there was a lot of background noise and a kind of dial tone / phone noise. Nobody answered when I spoke so I hung up. From others on this thread I see it's the police / non-profit / charity people. I really wish there was a 'charity do not call' list you can subscribe to - I'm not againt charity at all, but I want to be able to select WHO I donate to and I now make it a personal rule that I WILL NOT DONATE to charities who solicit my donations via these types of calls (and if they answer I make it a point to tell them that too).
