Just got a call from them to. Thing is the area code is San Francisco.
I live in Orange County. I called back from a different number and got a recording stating it was the SF Police department to alert me of something and they didn't elaborate.
Good thing we screen our calls. We received our call at 5:13pm, caller id says PBIS. We are on the Do Not Call list too. I guess that matter. Our cable company just added the caller id to our TV. Now we dont even have to pick up the phone to see who is calling. I live in San Diego.
I reveived a call on 4/8/08 and they did not leave a message. Caller ID said "PBIS". My brother had donated to these people a few years ago. After his donation he was getting calls from them several times a month. They keep calling years later even after requesting to be taken off their call list.
One of the time I answered and asked the lady on the phone if they had a web site I could visit to see all the info in detail. She said they did but when I asked what the address was she claimed to have "forgotten". It is obviously a scam. Donating to police is something people feel bad saying no to. It is an old, well known social engineering method.
