These people keep calling my organization for a couple of my staff. They are always threatening and rude. I called them back and when I told the lady who answered that the threatening phone calls need to cease, she hung up on me. THESE PEOPLE ARE STRAIGHT UP SCAM ARTISTS
Called me at work asked me if I had an attorney. I asked what this was about he told me a case was being filed against me. I asked what was the charge. Then he asked me for my social security number and my address???? I asked again what case. He just kept repeating what is your social security number. So I just hung up He called me back from 3 different numbers. I had to turn my phone off to stop the calls..
Received a call from this number from an indian mam today statins that I was being sued and would be arrested immediately they knew my first and last name an social security number. Scared me so much I don't know who these people are or why they are accusing me on these things like fraud and not paying some kind of loan. If anyone knows anything about this or if I should be taking some kind of action? I'm jut a student and I don't think I have done any of these crimes and I don't have an attorney like they are asking.
That number called my boss at work....this man with a very strong accent said he was an attorney and that a law suit was being filed because of abad loan.....when I tried to ask questions he said I wish u luck and hung up....i called back to see if I coukd speak to someone who speaks english but the woman disregaurded that and went on to tell me something totally different from the man...i asked her what state did these alligations occur....she said...oh forget it and hung up on me....SCAM
It's a SCAM!! I've had other types of these people call and leave a message saying "court summons" was being delivered to my work or home in 4 days, if I wanted to settle outside of court to call the plaintiff. That day came and went, I got NOTHING served! This is the third or fourth time in 3 years that I've received a call like this. These people try and scare you into paying anything cause you are afraid of court or prison.
I even had one swear they had proof that I lived in Missouri and took the loan out. She said they will take me to court to prove it and I replied "I would LOVE to see you there because there is NO WAY you can prove I EVER lived there because I didn't!" I NEVER heard from them again! I'm sure they sold my info these yahoos!
These people are losers!! Tall tale signs I follow to determine scam:
1) if they can not provide a debt validation (proof of debt as required by law), they are a SCAM!
2) if they only accept credit card, check by phone, western union or payments in full, SCAM!
3) if they don't have a mailing address, SCAM!
Just because they have your social, phone numbers and past addresses, it doesn't mean they have a legitimate debt they are collecting. The legitimate collectors will send you a letter proving the debt, will accept checks or money orders by mail, and will accept payments that you can afford.
Never, ever give up your personal information, and never ever give out your bank, ATM or credit card info, always pay with money order. This is what I've learned from expert advice on radio shows pertaining to credit safety.
