I got a call from Stephanie, saying if we didn't get $3000 into the "IRS account" by 2:00pm my husband would be arrested and in jail for 12 months with no opportunity for getting out or getting a lawyer. They wanted me to get cash, go to Western Union and call her back. She would then give me instructions on how to send the money in correctly.
Scared me to death. I called the IRS, they said that it is a scam.
Words were almost totally illegible. Indicated that I owe IRS money. This is all I cound understand. I was suspicious.
I called this number 415-484-8569 and a Kenneth Webster answered with "Investigation Department IRS".
I told him I received a call about taxes I owe and asked "what taxes?" He said "you don't know anything about this?
I said "No I don't". He then said hold on I will transfer you. After a minute or so I was cut off. I knew this was a fraud call and I wanted to let them know that I knew this. I tried calling again three different times and I just kept ion getting cut off.
One man called me and said this was a "time sensitive issue". he told me I had to call right away to a Kenneth Webster at the 415=484-8569 #, and that there is a very serious matter with my taxes.
I called D. Webster and he said, " did you receive any other calls yet" from the IRS? I said NO, he said, well court papers are being filed at that moment, and someone will be here to my home within 2 hrs. to arrest me and I WOULD go to jail for 3-6 months. I almost had a heart attack, and then remembered when I HAD owed taxes to the IRS they send letters, and they are extremely professional in all they do with people. Something told me this was a SCAM, however, the thought of
someone coming to my home to arrest me still loomed over my head, and scared me to death.
I looked up the 415 #'s given to me by both these Indian sounding men, and it appears others have had calls, so my relief
became apparent fairly quickly, however, I still called the IRs to make sure. I had no balances with the IRS, so that
should have been my first clue. These people are ruthless, use horrible scare tactics, and are desperate, so BEWARE!!
just got the call, called from 2 different numbers, asked him if they sent me paperwork, and he said yes, and said to call his supervisor kenneth webster. called the number just a beep. An Indian sounding man. Come and get me I need the vacation!!!
These [***] keep calling even though i tell them I'm on to them, and have reported them to the authorities, and they call at all hours! Also they call on a different 415 number every time, is there a way i block the entire area code??
I, too, just received this type of call. Middle-Eastern/Indian individual telling me to call this phone number to speak to a "Kenneth......" (couldn't understand/hear) what the last name was. That it was regarding my Income Tax/IRS Case and wanted to know if I had an attorney.
I haven't heard from these people in two months...I've already reported them to the FBI here in NJ and reported the calls on a few other sites. I wish they'd get with it and catch these people already! I'm tired of the phone calls!!!
