Caller claimed to be an investigative agent with the IRS when they asked for my name I stated that if they were the IRS calling me that they should have my name. The "agent" then hung up on me.
If you end up talking to one of them, just ask a bunch of questions. They hate that, and they'll hang up once they realize they're getting nowhere with you.
Called ID was blocked but "Julie Smith" from the "IRS" left a message saying I better call them back or have my lawyer call them back before they "take action". These scammers are getting braver.
415-506-1284: Called twice in this morning. Both times left same message--Julie from IRS and needed to talk to me or my attorney immediately in regard to "activity" that IRS would soon have to take action on if I did not immediately return the call.
IRS Scam. Called me today six times (payday), so far. Fortunately, I know the IRS does not contact by phone (my mom was a tax preparer). Do not give them any info. They can even probably give you the last four of your SS# and have been known to follow up phone conversations from people falsely claiming to be law enforcement. Contact the IRS yourself if you believe you may owe the IRS.
