DO NOT ANSWER PHONE....DO NOT CALL BACK....THEY DON'T CARE..
THEY ARE FISHING FOR VIABLE PHONE NUMBERS AND WHEN YOU ANSWER THAT JUST VERIFIES YOU OWN THE PHONE......DON'T PRESS "1". Either . That lets them get more info....they then sell your number to other companies and you wind up getting more calls. It's annoying for sure but just let it ring, after awhile calls will decrease....I only get maybe 3 a week. Now...just steel yourself, don't answer, check your caller ID. Most of the time they are robocalls....why do you think most don't speak.....they just want viable numbers which you give them when you answer or call back.
Received a call yesterday from (415) 669-5685. The CallerID said "INVERNESS CA". Looks like a call from MDS Communications (some kind of fundraising company). Per their website, you can opt-out of calls from them.
Opt-out via Phone: 888-243-2981

I just did the web-based opt out. I hope it works!
This is the number from Campus Crusade for Christ, or as they are called now CRU. They want donations for this christian organization who always seems to be in crisis. I asked them not to call me again.
asked for me by name. said Campus Crusade for Christ and wanted me to send Bibles to muslims by donating $100 to their cause. I refused as I have other ministries I choose to give to which I consider more important
A message on my caller ID said POINT REYES, CA and the number. I know no one in California so didn't answer. I never answer any calls from a place, area code, person, organization, or number I don't personally know.
Being on the National Do Not Call registry is a waste of time because too many organizations are exempt from it, and scammers change their identity and numbers to avoid being traced. No one in the government seems to be doing anything to stop these types of calls, so I have resorted to letting caller ID take care of them by never answering.
