I am a Chartered Accountant and there is no such thing as "ligit telemarketers that work under Revenue Canada".
CRA does not authorize any body, even Chartered Accounting firms, to call people for anything such as audits or tax reviews.
The only time Revenue Canada will contact you is when they want to verify your claims on your tax return such as tuition fees, medical expenses, child care expenses and the like. And they will send you an official letter via Canada Post, not by phone calls nor by e-mails.
Been calling (and banging on the door a few times previously) here off and on for the past couple of weeks. New Tactic now, they ("Jenifer") actually left a a couple of messages saying we qualify for a 600 rebate.
Claiming to be some home service company wanting to take a sample of my water to be sure its safe and when I told her no thanks she tried to scare me by telling me that water somewhere in Hamilton had traces of e-coli and wasn't I worried about that. Since I had already declined and she wasn't getting the message I asked her which part of NO didn't she understand. (she said what?) Stupid, Stupid people. I had to tell her BLUNTLY and then hang up.
