I am a Chartered Accountant and there is no such thing as "ligit telemarketers that work under Revenue Canada".
CRA does not authorize any body, even Chartered Accounting firms, to call people for anything such as audits or tax reviews.
The only time Revenue Canada will contact you is when they want to verify your claims on your tax return such as tuition fees, medical expenses, child care expenses and the like. And they will send you an official letter via Canada Post, not by phone calls nor by e-mails.
This is a company called ONTARIO CONSUMERS HOME SERVICES. They have come door-to-door in my neighbourhood in the past. They come in groups all dressed up in uniforms and clipboards. They try to appear as if they are with the municipality and offering government services. Even their business name appears to come across this way. They constantly call my home and when I google their number: 416 477 2146 to get info, it shows that I have visited the page MANY times which means that they have phoned me MANY times. There is no NAME identified with their phone number on my caller ID. Today they left a recorded voicemail - (word for word): "Hi, This is Jennifer calling from Ontario Consumers Home Services to let you know that you may qualify for up to $650 on rebates and also have a chance to receive a Smart thermostat when you upgrade your furnace and air conditioner. Give me a call at 1-866-883-9121 and quote promo code **** for this special offer. (I didn't include the promo code in case it's linked to my number (unlikely) - it's more likely to be linked with this particular recording)
