They asked if I wanted to reduce my credit card interest rate and I asked them to put me on their Do Not Call List. They abruptly hung up.
I called back and chose option #2 to put me on their automated Do Not Call list.
If you believe the do not call list is really the answer then you better not answer the phone when the "card services" scammers call or you will be the next one to be taken advantage of ! This scam has been going on for years and constantly reported, yet the operation continues to grow.
I work for this company and will enlighten you as to how this works.
The company is owned by two [removed:lang] and their wives. We use a robo crawler to call virtually every number in the area code of the day. We also use VOIP programs which allow us to show any telephone number we desire on your caller ID - you cannot call us back.
Basically about 20% of the telephone numbers we call connect us with dumb enough people to give us their credit card numbers to "verify" their account. Once we have the card number, security code and zip code/billing address, we try to sell you lower interest rates for a one time fee of $690. If you say yes, your card is charged and we do absolutely nothing for you other than giving you telephone numbers of Visa, Mastercard, Discover. If you refuse to go with this, the owners allow us to sell your credit card information to anyone for whatever we can get or we can use your card numbers to buy things online.
I make a ton of money doing this but never felt good about it. I tried to blow the whistle to the local cops here in Florida but they said they had bigger things to worry about and that juridictional issues would be a problem. So if any one is interested and willing to pay me $5000, I will gladly give you the names, addresses and working telephone numbers of the [removed:lang] owners. Let me know on here and we can work it out.
Just got a call from 417-800-2363...and I've gotten several from this area code. I hit 1 on my dial and was immediately connected to a guy who asked if I was calling about improving my credit card rates. I don't even HAVE a credit card! So I told him immediately "STOP CALLING ME." He immediately responded with "Shut up!" Then it got ugly. These calls are annoying and rude and I wish I could find out where their call center was. Because I guarantee they would sing a different tune if I was standing in front of them.
