Receive many phone calls from 1-417-800-2511 asking for Japanese male 18 or above to participate in a studies. My number is unlisted and registered with the 'do-not-call' list. The rep on the phone was unable to clarify how they get my number.
Robo-call about taking some type of survey. Claimed to be "Thompson Research" on the recording, but that could end up being any number of Pakistani / Indian fakers from just about anay place on the planet.
The recording didn't specify WHAT the survey would be about, probably some attempt to find out what you, the consumer, would be interested in hearing more about so they could deluge you with more Robo-Calls better geared towards your interests - and of course they would all start with the phrase - in response to YOUR INQUIRY about "X-Y-Z"......
That way they would have a legal "in" with which to call you about.
Just say "no" - hang up the phone and walk away. It's the idiots calling.
That's a nice theory about NOT answering means less calls but it's not been true in my experience. I never answer my phone when it's a number I don't know (I almost never answer for numbers I do know), yet the amount and frequency of calls is way up, not down as your theory suggests.
What you are NOT metioning, is once you tell the caller not to call you, if they call again they are in violation, and can file an action against them under the "telephone consumer protection act" (TCPA) This goes for ALL calls no matter who they are...whether they are charity, political, marketing a service, or looking for people who can't spell arthritus.
I also just received a call from this number. It would be possible for the government to stop these calls if they were interested in doing so. If the government folks on Obama's watch can track every phone call, email and text in the country they sure as the devil have the ability to track these cheap crooks. If you or I called any of Obama's friends and families nightly in this manner, rest assured, we would be getting a call from every law enforcement agency in the country. Apparently the working folks of America aren't worth the time to intervene.
