Receive many phone calls from 1-417-800-2511 asking for Japanese male 18 or above to participate in a studies. My number is unlisted and registered with the 'do-not-call' list. The rep on the phone was unable to clarify how they get my number.
I do quite well, thank you. I own a Printing company, 33 employees, and am a contributing editor for our local newspaper....but thanks for your learned input.
This is a fake survey group. Seems to be associated with the carpet cleaning, car warranty, senior alarms, card services scam group. If you answer the phone, then you automatically receive a bazillion more calls from them. Really AWFUL human beings.... and there is absolutely no one stopping them from calling and attempting to steal $$$ from folks.
Another call from another suspicious number. Noticed that there is a past thread about what the definition of telemarketer actually is. and what rules apply to the constant nuisance calls. Most of the calls I get, are from criminals running a variety of cons. They pretend to be survey companies, or even be representing some political cause. They are actually thieves doing their thing, and unless stealing from folks is legal, then these calls aren't even close to being so. Quibbling over official rules and whatnot is silly, especially given that these criminals are allowed to endlessly harass people via the phone services paid for by their victims. Enforcement of the DNC list, is about as real as pink fairy dust (so it doesn't even matter what the official rules happen to be). Perhaps most of these types of calls really are from criminals who work out of the country, and who are so smart that it is impossible to stop them (as claimed by some, and how sad, that the criminals seem to be so much smarter than anyone who could stop them).
Robo call asking for me to do a short survey and I will receive a "gift" at the end of the survey. Doesn't say what exactly the "gift" is. Press 1 to do the survey or Press 2 to be removed. I just hung up.
