Strung along this number for a while, takes you to a c drive that shows when has some trouble connecting to the internet (standard occurance in some home accesses) to try to prove that you system is going to collapse, tells you to go to www.supportwindows.tk. The page is for an outfit called ComputerSupport that wants to take your money. The person on the phone tried to get me to save their software -- that would give them remote access to my computer. That's where I stopped playing along. Shame on them. Their grandmothers should have inflicted on them what they try to inflict on others.
Usually don't answer the calls but did this time for some amusement. He said he was calling from microsoft and telling me that my computer was sending out personal information over the internet. Asked if this was happening right now, he said yes, funny though, my computer was turned off, hung up.
BEWARE SCAM or HACK JOB into your computer potential!!!!!
Answered this call at my dad's house. Came in as "CNS Mrk RC" on the caller ID.
Gald I did they migh thave got him. Claims to be from Microsoft tech and having comptuer issues that will crash the computer in a few days (oh NO! ha ha ha). Takes you to start menu, computer then right click to manage, then to system tools and event manager then walks thorugh a buch of these telling you to look for errors, etc and how bad and slowing the comptuer they will be. Then they want you to let them send you to the "Microsoft tech" to goto a specific webpage (no I did not go there!) and let them log on your comptuer. When I said no they said it will crash in a few day (my dad's comptuer is so new its still under warrenty so not really worried about some hoax like that).
During the whole phone call I did take it off line after telling her I did a search for scams and she said they weren't one. Oh Indian (as in Asia) sounding voice and sounded like noise in the background almost like calling from home.
