Strung along this number for a while, takes you to a c drive that shows when has some trouble connecting to the internet (standard occurance in some home accesses) to try to prove that you system is going to collapse, tells you to go to www.supportwindows.tk. The page is for an outfit called ComputerSupport that wants to take your money. The person on the phone tried to get me to save their software -- that would give them remote access to my computer. That's where I stopped playing along. Shame on them. Their grandmothers should have inflicted on them what they try to inflict on others.
Agent from Microsoft named Steve called and said my computer was sending messages to microsoft that said i had errors on files .I asked why i hadnt gotten error messages on my screen.couldnt explain that .Had thick indian accent and hard to understand so i asked for someone who could speak better english.Supervisor named Peter came on (sounded like Raj from Big Bang Theory) and told me a different reason for call.Microsoft had had customer complaints of black or blue screens and he needed access to my computer to repair it .Asked him why they just didnt do an update .He said it didnt affect all computers but mine might be one of them .This is when i told him i have a Mac.He hung up
Just called my cell phone and gave me the same scenario as the rest of you....Then when I told him that we did not own a computer he got nasty. I told him that if I did have a computer, that windows would not call me and say they were receiving error messages. It would me having to call an automated machine to find out what was going on. He told me that I had a computer and it was registered under my husbands name......that is when I broke out laughing. My husband doesn't even know how to turn one on..Geesh terrible scamers. Foreign voiced nasty little man......shame on you!
My experience was similar to the ones above. A woman who sounded Indian, calling from "Windows", told me that they had reports of problems with my windows and they would help me fix the problems. I could barely understand her, asked for the supervisor, he told me he was calling from Windows. I told him that there wasn't a company named Windows. He said, "No, windows is an operating system." I asked, "Which of my computers is reporting the problem?" It was all very absurd...
