Strung along this number for a while, takes you to a c drive that shows when has some trouble connecting to the internet (standard occurance in some home accesses) to try to prove that you system is going to collapse, tells you to go to www.supportwindows.tk. The page is for an outfit called ComputerSupport that wants to take your money. The person on the phone tried to get me to save their software -- that would give them remote access to my computer. That's where I stopped playing along. Shame on them. Their grandmothers should have inflicted on them what they try to inflict on others.
Just got a call from these people. Speaking in an almost incomprehensible Indian accent, a man told me that my computer was sending out error messages to "Windows", and claimed he worked for "Windows" When I assured him that my computers were fine, he yelled at me that I should quit wasting his time (!), and should just turn my computer on. Funny thing, it's on 24/7.... At that point I hung up.
They tried to scam for money to buy their system get my credit card number and remote access. As I was shutting down my computer. They hung up.. jerks...
DID THE SAME TO ME LAST YEAR , i think letting them go in to ur pc is bad, don't know what they took or put in ur pc i let him in , and from then he was on my pc with out me knowing. i find out the hard way . what i did was give it away to family . and got a new one once i don't know a # i now always go to my friend Mr. Google. and yes he hold me , with the words Microsoft, but went he told me i would have to buy a software i dId the same thing as one of u said before.
(asks you to start menu, computer then right click to manage, then to system tools and event manager then walks thorugh a buch of these telling you to look for errors, etc and how bad and slowing the comptuer they will be. Then they want you to let them send you to the "Microsoft tech")
the sad thing i should know better, but because my pc was doing things that i was going to have check he sound good so i let him on my pc. you know if u do Banking etc on the pc he can take all of that.
A caller who sounded east Indian claimed to be calling from Microsoft Technical Services to announce error messages coming from my computer. He said he had access to all the information about my computer but wouldn't name the brand. Not a very clever scammer.
