They called and said I had been approved for a 9,000 dollar grant from the government but I had to pay a 210 dollar security deposit for the check???!!! WTH
Same Caller ID "cleaning servic" that auto dials daily. The calls do not stop, you can't get off their call list, and I continue blocking various phone numbers they use. I'm now filing a formal complaint with WA Attorney General's Office. Doesn't matter that your on DNC list, I've complained numerous times and the calls have continued for months. DNC is useless, however, file complaints with FCC and State Attorney General's Office.
After repeated calls from this number I decided to hear them out. The call sounded like a bad connection with the woman barely understandable, English not so great. She is a sales rep for Evergreen Fresh Air aka EFA Duct Cleaning located in Seattle, WA. Local news did a story on their high pressure sales pitch.
She tells me according to company records we are due for maintenance for air ducts & furnace. Politely tell her we have only baseboard heat, which we never use because we rely on a wood stove or space heater. She plows on with her script. Again repeat we don't have air ducts. She tells me how imp. it is to get maint. Then she makes a deal for $39.99 for a service I don't need. She's again reading script, not listening.
Then asked her what her records show was the last yr. of my non-existing furnace being serviced. Again she tells me it's time to set up an appointment, asking if Tues. or Wed. would be good. I demand to know the last date of service. She flounders, mumbles. Told her to in not uncertain terms, yet politely, to not call again. We'll see...
Like Moda above, I also decided to hear the caller out to see what the scam was about; especially since he asked for me by name on my landline. His spiel was also similar in telling me it was again time to schedule a furnace/duct cleaning for their special price of 39.99 and would I like to schedule an appointment for tomorrow. I asked where he got my number and he told me it was from a previous service to change out an ignite. He even told me it was from 2010 when I asked when that was done.
At this point I told him he was a lying sack of excrement, because I have never had any furnace work done here in the eighteen years that I have lived here, because the house has baseboard heat. He continued his lying with an explanation that it must have been just faulty records.
I have also just recently been receiving several of these 'furnace/ductwork' calls a week and sometimes even a day and believe my number must have been 'sold' to these p.o.s. telemarketers by someone that I may have dealings with previously, because several others have also asked for me by name.
