OMG I just got the phone call about an hour ago I spent some time questioning this so called David Brown and when I asked him what month, day, and year this so called pay day loaned was taken out he said he only had the the year of 2010 information available. My dad was present at the time I was on the phone and told me that it was probably all crap! I was very suspecious after they were not able to provide the information I requested. They even threatended me by saying they would call my job and have me arrested there. After reading all of the comments posted here I know I did the correct thing by just hanging up on them!
I just received a call from an Officer Jeff Morgan calling from this number. Jeff Morgan transfered me to a Sgt Robert Marshall claiming to be the Chief of the department. They were yelling at me and would not give me any information pertaining to the so called case they had against me for a payday loan company that I have never heard of before. They had all of my information. There was a lot of noise in the background. After they would not give me any information i hung up on them.
Message from this number telliing me to call extension 5221 for Officer Dave Brown of the Federal Crime Department and if I ignore them something would happen to me with my employer. Man had accent. I am not returning the call.
Message left on our business voice mail after hours for an employees son who doesn't work here, said he is Sergeant Robert Marshall, he had a heavy accent (think Martin Short's character in Father of the Bride), said he was from the Federal Crime Dept & if the call was not returned there would be an issue at his place of work. His call was not returned but he later called during business hours. Said he would continue to call here until he talked to him.
The FBI came out with a press release last December regarding this extorion scam:

Sadly, the FBI does not have the money or manpower to go after these criminals. This fact was highlighted on a segment of "Dateline" the other day. However, they give some valuable tips on the press release as to how you can protect yourself.
