They don't care! In fact, the a**holes are 'targeting' people on the donotcall registry! They're criminals who don't give a d*mn about any laws or rules ... they see them as something to break/violate!!!
I also received this recorded message on my cell phone----from Rachel who says it's the last chance I have to lower my credit card interest rates. This is the first time my cell has gotten one of these calls. At home, this "company" has called no less than a dozen times at all hours of the day, each time telling me it will be my "last chance". I now own a wonderful home phone system that I can choose numbers to block from getting through. The phone gives a half ring, then automatically disconnects the caller. I love it! I also locked this number on my cell. So, hopefully, it really will be the last time.
I keep getting call from this number, did what they asked and am now getting at least 4 a day from them. Am on do not call registry, why are they violating it? I will answer next time, get persons name, company name, phone number to call back and then tell them they will be owing me money because they are violating the do not call registry!
I've actually filed several complaints about calls like this through the link on the Do Not Call Registry and have not received a response to date. As I get these calls, I add them to my contact list with a name of Block Call so that is how the call displays each time they call back. If you've ever done business with a Debt Management rip off company, chances are good that your info has been sold; hence the calls (this from a former employee friend of mine.) Too bad AT& T has such a lousy block call program. I keep a log of the number, date and time called, so that I have accurate information to report to someone if anyone ever contacts me regarding my complaints. I contacted my credit card company and blasted off when rep said they don't usually sell my information...so there's another outlet for scammers to get our info. Even after the credit card balance is paid off, these credit companies still have our account information. It seems there really is no way to stop this madness, these companies just get new phone numbers when their response numbers go down. As Lyn mentioned, screaming in a padded closet does help and more effective. LOL
