I just had a threatening call from them as well. Officer Keith Forrester.  I'm going to be arrested in a half hour for ignoring their calls and correspondence I never received. He newer toLd me what amount I owed. A lawsuit has been filed in DC with a case number de14121.  He was arrogant, yelling at me and rude.

Upset
Recording left on home phone that the IRS was filing a lawsuit and to call 509-588-7293.  I did and spoke to Officer Sarah Jones who spoke with an accent then to officer Keith forester (also had an accent) who proceeded to tell me I needed to go immediately to the bank, withdraw cash and go to Walmart to make a money transfer.  I told him my bank was closed.  He told me I needed to call him tomorrow by 11 AM from the parking lot at Walmart to get wiring money info and not to tell anyone about this.  I got really suspicious once he said that and said this sounds like a scam.   I should have hung up then. He didn't like that I said 'scam' and said that once my payment was received an Officer would be by my house to ask for the payment receipt and how this agent would then report my payment to the "courthouse" to cancel my arrest warrant. I called my husband very upset and he told me this was a scam. They were very convincing. Sure glad they don't take credit cards over the phone.

Same recorded call as others are reporting.  Left several messages on answering machine today.  First call came before 8 am.  The IRS does not work this way.  Maybe I should call them back and read them some scripture.

Total scam.  Originates in either India or Pakistan.   Block and ignore.   DO NOT RETURN THE CALL!

I’m an Enrolled Agent with the IRS (Inactive). IRS does not initiate contacts by phone.  US mail only.   IRS does not file lawsuits.   Court action, if any is handled by the DOJ and all parties are entitled to legal assistance if it is a criminal matter.  But--tax disputes are for the most part civil matters.  90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively.  IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. IRS does not threaten to involve local law enforcement or to arrest you for nonpayment of federal taxes.  IRS has no powers of arrest.    If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job.  IRS does not cold call anyone and demand immediate payment of  money.  IRS does not ask for financial information over the phone.   IRS does not accept Green card money paks for payment in any case.  No one is prosecuted for ordinary tax disputes. IRS has absolutely no authority over anyone's professional license. Professional licensing is handled by state governments.  Yes, levies on property to satisfy an existing tax obligation do occur, but only after a very long period of negotiation. And yes, liens are placed on individuals but  usually after a lot of negotiation and a failure to reach a settlement.    All determinations of tax liability are subject to appeals.  All  contacts by the IRS are initiated by US mail.
