This has also happened to me. And I live in Spain, but the truth is that something wrong was going on in my computer. It's got a virus and this virus must report to his company. There comes the scam. I also hanged up the phone. It was too weird.
the indian accent guy called and told me he was going to fix my computer. told him no. he threatened me and told me he knows my name and where I live. I hung up on him.
I live in Redmond, WA.... about one mile from Microsoft's Intergalactic Headquarters and my techie friends there tell me that Microsoft NEVER dials people at home. Over the course of several days these near-unintelligible Indian/Pakistani scammers will call over and over. Even when I inform them that: "I don't have a Windows computer" or "How did you get my number?" or "I know this is a scam," they simply persist and still try to make their pitch. The last call from (516) 370-4176 was enough for me so I simply called Comcast and they instructed me how to block a number. (Dial *60 or go to the Comcast website.) Easy and simple. Here on out, they are BLOCKED -- can't even leave a phone message.
If you're phone company says you CANNOT block a scammer's number, then ask to talk to a supervisor. If that fails, threaten to seek another phone service. There's NO WAY people should be subjected to these intrusions from frauds.
