This has also happened to me. And I live in Spain, but the truth is that something wrong was going on in my computer. It's got a virus and this virus must report to his company. There comes the scam. I also hanged up the phone. It was too weird.
I just got a call from this number on a UK mobile phone. I couldnt answer it as I was in a meeting but it looks like they might be expanding outside the USA...
Usually a man with an accent calls. Just now a woman called and said she is from "Home Improvement".
I told her to get off my phone and not call again (I am on Do Not Call list!). I am elderly and this is the
middle of the afternoon.
Called today at 10:09am
Guy with strong accent with lot of background noise (people talking; like a call center would have). Said he was with some computer monitoring firm. Don't remember the mention of Microsoft. Said my computer was infected and in the process of downloading a virus that was going to delete my hard-drive at any moment. Wish I had the time to mess with him and have some fun.
