Same caller with a "foreign" or Indian (India) accent has been calling (harassing) us periodically for over a year using the guise of "smoke alarm survey". He called again yesterday and i asked him to stop calling for the umpteenth time. He has escalated it to the level of harassment by making rude comments. Today he left an annoying message on my answering machine just repeating my full name over and over again. By this persons demeanor and the description of complaints here, it is obvious that this is not a legitimate company or business. I have suspicions it is nazi-style Big-Brother intimidation. For anyone thinking about taking legal action or threatening legal action against this entity will probably be futile and in vain. I suspect you'll be going up against something Bigger than you. Things are not what they seem and "things are getting really, really weird". The caller ID: NASSAUZNO1, NY 1-516-453-5655.
I have been getting these calls on a regular basis - always from someone that sounds like they are from some Middle Eastern country. Some days they state they are Safeguard and ask me to take a survey about smoke detectors. Today they called and asked for the former owner of my telephone number, but didn't state who they were. When I told him Mr. _____ doesn't own this telephone number any longer, and that I wanted him to take my telephone number off of his list and quit calling me, they said nothing. When I asked him if he understood what I was asking him to do, I again got no response, but I could hear him breathing on the other end and heard the call center noise in the background. He sat on the phone for over a minute more, and it sounded like he was typing. While I had him on the phone, I was Googling his phone number, and found this site. Happy to add another complaint to the list.
Just got another call from this company. I called them back at the number that appears in caller I.D. and got a message stating that the call I received was for telemarketing purposes. It gave instructions to press "1" to be placed on their "do not call list". When you press "1", they instruct you to input your 10 digit phone number, and state afterward that they will remove my telephone number within 72 hours. We'll see....
