'Nat'(?) called today from 'Corey Hicks & Associates' asked for the boss by name. I asked what it was in reference to, and he said: 'Although I'd love to discuss this with you because you are on the phone, I 'd like to speak with (boss' name) directly. Does SHE have voice mail?' THE BOSS IS A MALE, so I knew it was a scam. I answered, "If you don't tell me what it's in reference to, you won't get through." And I hung up the phone.
HE CALLED BACK and said, "Is that how you act when you don't get your way?"
I HUNG UP AGAIN.
I recognized the firm's name from prior disrespectful pigs who have called in the past.
This Luke Black has been calling me, impersonating a lawyer, and making threats that border on defamation. He is abusive, deceptive and a psychopath in general. One wonders how these people can continue to operate.
520-290-2600 has been calling with the (at this point) usual BS. Lawsuit, name slandering, legal threats and other cheap scare tactics are this company's preferred method of interaction, undoubtedly to embezzle as much money as possible. My buddy's name was Zach (ext. 128) and was pretty true to form as far as employees of this company go.(Terribly rude, offensive, and unprofessional.) At this point, they shouldn't be fooling anyone with the way these criminals are acting. What they are doing needs to stop, two years is long enough. And that's just the earliest of complaints I found. So my question is this:
Does anyone know of a group that would support private legal actions against Cory G. Hicks Assoc?
It looks like people have been aware of this scam for a few years at least. As such, I'm sure more than a good handful of people have contacted the FTC regarding this business. This works for the individual's interest but it does not seem apparent however that the dissolution of this band of crooks is progressing at all, which I believe is the means to this end. Can anyone clarify as to whether or not a sensible legal solution is in place yet?
This Zach Smith is definitely Lost In Space. I've requested written notice of the claim against me and he says he "doesn't write letters." He says he has all this documentation and he won't send it to me. He tells me that the FDCPA won't protect me because it is a business debt. I believe this may be right, are there any agencies that protect small business owners from this kind of harassment?
I will be closing my doors for good by the end of summer. This company he's collecting for has been doing business with Hicks for at least 5 years. I found this out from a friend who supposedly owed money to the same company. They are fully aware of their tactics and yet absolve themselves of any responsibility. I question the integrity of the original creditor now. I've already paid the company nearly $5K for sub-standard service and am not about to give them another cent, even if I have to file for bankruptcy. I am not a thief, I pay my legitimate debts.
I have asked them not to call & told them I have mental Illnesses and they are endangering my health. I hung up on him one time & he called back, my son answered & he excitedly said "What happened?! Did ---- have a heart attack & drop the phone? And then just continued reading his script.
His initial threats 2 months ago were to contact my banks, landlords, vendors, & clients for the purpose of investigating assets, "arranging a very aggressive lawsuit against me" and slandering me. Threatening to stalk us. All voice recorded. The phone company said creditors are allowed to call and I asked "What if I don't owe them any money?" He told me to contact the FTC, but if it's a business debt and the laws don't apply, what good will that do?
Smith is saying, "Just cut us a check." If I could do that I would've bought my kids something for Christmas, and paid the utility company, etc. I just wish I knew who to turn to.
OHHH MY GOD, this ZACH Smith form Cory G, Hicks & [***] is so unrespectfull, calling me a liar. We need to stop thispeople please fill out your complaint forms. Lets do somthing about them....
You can not represent that you are an attorney unless you are an attorney. Call the Arizona State Bar. Also, yes - false representations are a violation of the FDCPA.
