Hi im michael i have been getting calls form them iraq people for 4 months this time he said that i hade a lawsuit for a lawn i dont remember a lown and he said hes name was danial but any way he to that i hade a check scam on me to well i try to tell him something and he got mad at me and then i said how did you get my social and birthday then i said stop f calling back and he said f you mr cromer real people like that cant couse so he hung up and said dont call back so i call back and i told him i was calling the police and he said that he was call the fbi what a load off grabe i called the police and spoke to and officer and said that happend to him to and they cous him out after he told them he was police officer the cop on the phone check the number and was not real and run my name to see if any thing was against me and said was good to go and the officer said if i hade them cases against me i would be in jail by now he dont worry about it anymore so if you get call form irag people saying you have lawsuit its not real dont even worry about it and thanks for reading and a good day everybody.
On Monday , 4/25/11 a man with a thick accent called six times between 9 am and 1 pm, I answered the first time and they said I was being sued in CA and either me or my attorney should show up in court on Friday. I asked him to send me a written statement. Said I needed to pay or be arrested. I hung up. I didnt't answer again but they left the same message five more times. I do believe they also may have called from a blocked # b/c 000-000-0000 would show up in the caller ID box.
Payday loan scammers. NOT LEGITIMATE. They are extortionists. They are not collecting valid debts.
They called this business asking for an employee who has been the victim of numerous bogus payday loan scam extortion attempts.
Criminals buy up client lists from defunct payday loan companies (or steal them from current companies), then use the information to extort money from victims. They have NO VALID DEBTS TO COLLECT. They try to scare people into giving up money with threats of arrest, legal actions, and harassment.
Don't let them scare you.
First of all, tell them you are recording the conversation. This will usually get rid of them right away.
Never give anything to these people. Tell them that you will not consider the matter until you receive debt validation in writing through the US Postal Service.
They often claim to be from a law firm, the "legal department", threaten court action in a just a few days (NOT possible), call themselves detectives or investigators, call themselves the FBI, National Crime Identification Bureau, US Attorney's Office, and the like. They threaten to send the police to arrest people. They will say whatever it takes to scare you into giving them money. It is ILLEGAL. It is also a major clue that they are not legit.
They NEVER actually follow through on their threats. They can't. The threats are empty. Don't give in.
They have also claimed to be process servers (the people that deliver subpoenas and other legal papers) and threaten legal mayhem to any and all persons remotely associated with their victim.
I told them to knock themselves out, we'd be waiting for them. They haven't called since. And no one has shown up at the front gate either.
