Received a call from this number asking for my hubby. The gentlemen on the other end had what sounded like an Indian accent. Told me he was calling from the IRS. I do actually owe the IRS some money but have NEVER received a phone call from them and am currently working on resolution. He proceeded to tell me that unless I made a 10% payment today and payment arrangements for the future I would be hauled into criminal court, I would need a criminal attorney, my assets would be frozen and my business license would be revoked for 3 years. I didn't give him any info but called the guy representing me in a panic! He proceeded to tell me this was a scam and to ignore the call. The guy purporting to be from the IRS was hard core and was demanding payment in full (or 10% to stop proceedings). Once the panic subsided, and I received reassurance from my rep, I realized the IRS doesn't even take payments over the phone. You can only pay via EFTPS or thru one of their approved vendors. Did a little more research and found some additional info on this scam. Here's the link related to the scam and what to look for.

My recently widowed aunt just recieved a call from these people claiming they are the irs. She loaded $800 onto a greendot credit card and was told she needed to get another $1200 by tomorrow or she would be arrested and her property would be siezed. Because she hasn't paid taxes for the last few years she fell for this scam. We are currently in the process of trying to get her money back and reporting them to the IRS phishing department. According to google the telephone number belongs to 01 Communications out of Cottonwood California.
Called yesterday and then again this morning at 6:58 am. Called 3 times in a row and left garbled voice mail saying from IRS and must contact immediately. Same scenario as above and when I said my husband wasnt available he asked for my Social Security #. When I said I didn't give this info over phone, he hung up. This guy must be stopped before he preys on others.
I RECEIVED A CALL FROM 951-223-6693 informing me that IRS is investigating me and I should immediately call Kevin Peterson at 530 377 6497. Call was made early in the morning, which made me suspicious. I searched web for both these numbers and founf them to be scams.
