I just got a call from this same "Jim" yesterday in response to a vehicle I listed on craigslist. Didn't seem too strange since it was a VA number and I am in SE PA. When I called back, "Jim" wasn't in the office. I spoke with a barely understandable Indian fellow who told me the person who was interested in my vehicle has already been satisfied, but he will call me back if they get another client with similar interests. Sounded weird to me, but I said OK. Now I look it up and find this... I am a bit worried.
I'd love to find a way to stop them, too. I thought about contacting the authorities myself, but so far, no crime has been committed. So what would I report?
And what on earth are they hoping to accomplish? How are they planning to rip us off?
I was so angry after I read all of this, I wanted to call "Jim" or the Indian guy back and say that I was reporting everything. But, of course, I didn't. What would I report?
My car is listed on Autotrader.com, so I am planning on alerting them, for what it's worth.
Got a call from Jim today and he left a vm saying he was interested in the vehicle that i had for sale. i put his number in the computer and saw all these comments. thanks for the help!!!!!
jim u suck i got a call from him 2 day and he left me a vm bout my car on craigslist,so i called him right back like 2 seconds later and he wasnt there. this foriegn lady who couldnt speak right at all answered the phone and told me she needed all this info . i thought it was a scam so i just hung up . they piss me off so bad i wanna catch them so bad
Interesting. I just looked up the site's whois record. They've been around since 2000, and the IP address traces back to Roanoke, VA. It's looking less and less like a scam and more like just a poorly-run and possibly unethical business.
