They called me from the 601 number claiming an old debt of over 5 grand had fraudulent activities charges and they would send me a summons.
Other numbers they gave to call were 202-792-8900. When I told them I was in a state where they can't sue and do anything against me. I hung up. The same broad called me back from a 713-588-2648. A houston based number. I asked what the company info was so I could contact them and she told me to Google it. I hung up. Strange how these calls always come around tax season. I asked who she worked for and she said Intel Direct.
I have received the same phone calls from various different numbers threatening that there is a warrant for my arrest and that I have charges filed against me but every time I try to call these individual numbers back I cannot leave a message. I also get these messages on my work phone and my cell phone. In this day and age I can't imagine that there is no legal action that can be taken against this company in the form of a class-action suit. I am disgusted !!
I have been receiving these calls for the past 7 years, I had filed for bankruptcy and they STILL call, it isnt as bad as it was, but they manage to always find new phone numbers I may have. I just ignore them, because they aren't ever going to go away, and they will never get a dime of my money, because I don't owe them.
If a debt collector is calling you they are always to say this is an attempt to collect a debt, They then are supposed to give you an a account number and the information as to where the debt is coming from. These clowns get real pissy when you ask these questions, this is where it is a scam.
Also, if there is a "warrant" (which, if you owe money you get summoned to court you don't get a warrant out on you.) they don't call you to tell you about said "warrant."
Be careful folks don't let these scumbags take advantage of you.
Sorry everyone this is a legitimate debt collection law firm. They work for Portfolio Recovery, one of the largest debt collection agencies in the world. They will take you to court if you don't talk to them and work something out. I know. I ignored them and they filled a case with the court. I verified the filing was genuine before responding to them. Take it seriously because if you don't, you may end up with wage garnishment, liens or some other means of court ordered forced payment. It definitely is not a scam!
Sure you did. Since you know so much about them, what is their physical address and bar license as well as the states where they are licensed to practice. IF you had been served, there would be no need to call the court to verify anything.
