I have been receiving some harassing calls from this number 606-262-4728 as well. I am sick and tired of those collections agencies making those false claims in order to mess up people's credit files. Recently I was denied an employment opportunity with a big insurance company because of some adverse information that was found in my credit report. These thieves accused me of owing them $1609 and reported my names to Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. In fact this was untrue. I contacted those collectors and requested for a full investigation. Later on, I found out this debt was not valid because they could not provide me no verification about those claims. So, I forced them to take my name off from from these credit bureau. I believe this problem is causing by the tea baggers and right wing republicans. The Obama's administration want to pass financial regulations and stop those abuses from happening. In contrast, the tea baggers and republicans do not want regulations. This is the reason, I will never vote for those republicans again. These republicans folks just do not care about the middleclass.

I have gotten calls from this place for years. They will call up to 4 times a day for months then I don't here from them for awhile and it starts back up. Normally they just ask for a Mary Hill, and then get mad at me when I tell them we have had this number for over 12 years and our name isn't even close to the one they are looking for.
Today was the first time I got the call with dead air, so I *69'd the number and got the 606 one. I called it back and the guy told me it was Capital Accounts and they were looking for Mary Hill. As calmly as I could I told him I have told them MANY times over the last 2 years I am not Mary Hill, no I don't know her and no she doesn't live here. (Yes they always ask if I know her then ask if she lives here, wow stupid!) I then told him if we ever revived a call from them again I would file a harassment lawsuit. He told me he took our number off the list (like they have told me almost every time over the last 2 years) but I'm sure I will get another call from them in the next few days.
I would imagine this is some kind of scam to get personal information, if not then this is a company full of incredibly stupid people.

If you believe that you are truly being harrassed for false debt from this company, then you need to file a claim with the Attorney General's office.  The Attorney General is the one who investigates Debt Collectors.  I used to work for a debt collection company and by law if they are looking for someone at your phone number who does not live there, they will always ask if you know them.  They also have to follow the FDCPA.  My advice, look up the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act) and familiarize yourselves with it.  You can get them for a lot of things.  For instance, they have to mention the "Mini-Miranda" at the beginning of the phone call so you know that any information obtained will be used for the purpose of collecting the debt not at the end.  If you tell them to cease and desist calling your cell phone or something like that, then they have to by TCPA law.  If you believe that they are coming after you falsely, then you need to get their address and the office manager's number and write them a formal cease and desist letter.  Send it by certified mail so you know, 100%, that they received it.

To Jan:  The $5.00 service fee for them to contact the 3 credit bureau's is bogus.  It costs nothing for them to contact the credit bureaus.  They most likely batch accounts at the end of the month, which is when they do their credit reporting, to update them.

To John Guerrier:  You're delusional if you seriously think debt collectors come from the "Tea Party" and Republicans.  The financial legislation that Obama proposed to pass that you think would regulate this, actually has nothing to do with the debt sector at all, but thanks for playing.  The need for debt collectors came out of the irresponsible spending of a lot of Americans.  Most people do pay their bills on time.  Whether it be your mortgage, rent, CC bill, cell phone, etc.  It's the ones who like to open up a credit card and max it out then think they don't have to pay it back that give the rest of us a bad name.

It seems necessary, based on such anecdotal reports, to make an inquiry in to  what connections if any this Capitoal Accounts company has to organized crime activity accross state boarders. Is it a mob or racket outfit? Do they have foreign financial connections? Has any member of management or ownership ever been arrested or sued. and for what?  They seem suspect. For one, they clearly appear to be hiding their identity, location and prupose, a sign of criminal activity. This same sort of MO is indicative of drug and crime money launderers. . Perhaps they are charging illegal fees or engaging in wire fraud. Could it be that their employees are being encourged to commit collection law violations in order  to finance and camoflouge a more sinister criminal enterprise? These managers and the company itself, it  seems, require some long term investigation. If private inquiries indictae futher study and referal is warranted, then the evidence, if any, should be referred to Federal and State authorities. The civil and criminal discovery results in all law suits and cases filed against the company and/or its employees and owners personally should be saved and referred to the U.S. Attorney in the appropriate Federal jurisdiction and to W.D.C.  Then, to the appropriate State Attorney Generals and consumer agencies. Then, after a number of such law suits have been filed and criminal cases referrals made, a summary file of the discovered and supportable facts should be sent to the appropriate State and Federal congressmen and senators, and to the financial institutions and companies that employ the company'a services. The supportable  facts should then be postedt on all available social and business media. A BBB and Chamber of Commerce  report should then be sought, and the result of that report should be sent to all persons and companies that engage or employ the company's services, together with the promise to not employ the services or buy the product of any  customers of the company. This is all contingent of course on the finding of facts that legally support such action.  A good place to start would be to hire the company/s services and get an insider's report of what they claim to do, and how they claim to do it, together with a referece of all their customer's they claim they serve.  Infiltration and investigation should commence, if it has not already been underway for some time. The identity and location of all owners, stockholders and managers of the company should  be ascertained first, together with their employment history, past litigation histoy, past history of arrests and convictions for crimes, and  known criminal affiliates. The same is true for all their close family members, business partners and attorneys. There is treble damages for RCIO suits. Of course, every step must be taken in accordance with applicable law.
