I also got a call from this rude thieves. I have reported their number to the FTC. Please take 5 minutes and report them. It is the only way to get rid of them. !!!!!
Fast-speaking, thick-accented man called asking for our company owner by name. I guessed it was some kind of cold sales call, so I put the guy on hold for a bit, and then told him that Mr.___ was not available, to which he replied, something like... "I am calling to let Mr.___ know the directory service he asked to cancel is not cancellable; and we need information to renew the billing, so you can help me.. ." I had heard of this SCAM before, so I asked for the company name - he muttered something so fast I couldn't understand, and proceeded to try to talk over me while I was telling him that I knew this call was bogus scam ... I eventually yelled several times into the phone, "DO NOT CALL HERE AGAIN!" and hung up on him. I *HATE* a**sholes like this.
I have learned to be very nice and screw with these people. It is very fun to drive them crazy. You know who you owe money to. The second you get a phone call about money, you know they are trying to screw you. If you want this to stop, SCREW with them and this sales method will go away. The employees that do this work only are paid for a sale. Keep them on the phone as long as possible
Pretty much the same - rude lady telling me i have to play along with her script or my "listing" will cost a lot more than it's already costing me. Never signed up for any listing, and after repeated attempts to get her name and company info to report it, her telling me nothing but how rude i am, i hung up. These people should be prosecuted!
My turn was today!!! When she said that I'd asked not to be called, I told her, "That's right, so we'll just not talk any more." Then she told me not to tell her how to do her job. Because I'd read about this scam, I just told her that I'd read about the scam and she wasn't going to get anything from me. I see there are sufficient posts for anyone to know this is a scam, but I wanted to let others know a later date that it continues.
