Discover fraud prevention calling (about 60 seconds after I made a rather large payment to a place I never had before). They knew who I was and didn't even ask for verification information, just asked to speak with me by name. Then asked if I had just made a charge to XYZ company for $ amount. I said yep and they were on there way and happy. It was legit.
A message was left on my voice mail saying they were Discover card Fraud dept. but when I called discover they did not make the call. I did not call back the number, so I have no idea what the game is.
I got an incoming call from this # on my cell and I did not recognize it so I googled it which brought me here. Then my voice mail beeped through. When I checked it, I had a message from customer service at Morgan-Stanley, which I had been expecting. So as of Jan. '08, the number is legit.
Got a call from Discover fraud department on this number and it was legit. They were verifying a large purchase that was being shipped to an address other then my home address.
It's legit. We just shipped a box to Texas as a birthday gift from Florida for only $41, and we got our online account froze and a phone call from the Discover's Fraud Department. All is well, though.
