Discover fraud prevention calling (about 60 seconds after I made a rather large payment to a place I never had before). They knew who I was and didn't even ask for verification information, just asked to speak with me by name. Then asked if I had just made a charge to XYZ company for $ amount. I said yep and they were on there way and happy. It was legit.
If this was indeed a "legit" call from Discover or a bank concerning fraud, wouldn't the caller have LEFT ME A MESSAGE? It seems odd for a credit card trying to contact you regarding possible fraudulent activity not to leave a name or number in which to call back. If there was a serious issue with my account, they would identify themselves.
I am a Discover Card customer and I just got a call from this number.
They DID leave a message, an 800 number to call back on.
I logged into the discovercard website and there was a message there for me to call that same 800 number.
So the 614 number is legit, but don't answer it. Just let it go to VM and then call back the number they tell you to call.
I got a call from this number at my office and the person on the phone asked me to run a test purchase through our credit card machine. Sounds very fishy to me.
