Discover fraud prevention calling (about 60 seconds after I made a rather large payment to a place I never had before). They knew who I was and didn't even ask for verification information, just asked to speak with me by name. Then asked if I had just made a charge to XYZ company for $ amount. I said yep and they were on there way and happy. It was legit.
Based on the thread here I called Discover to see if it was indeed them that's been calling me every morning from this number. They say it is *not* them. So, off it goes into my blocked number list.
Fraud. They call and ask for any random individual. When I declined, they said they got a wrong number, and hung up. If it was truly from Discover, they wouldn't get a WRONG number for a customer. Fraud.
I received a call from 1-614-282-1000. Since I do not answer unknown numbers, I didn't answer this call. I looked up this number on Google and found this site which some say that this is Discover Fraud line and some say it is false. I called discover and this is NOT a number associated with Discover Card and it is a scam wanting your acct no. So DO NOT answer if you receive a call from it.
THIS IS A SCAM NUMBER.
I looked up this number and read a lot of the submissions placed here. I did not answer the phone calls but I got two of them today. A message was not left during either call.
I DO NOT own a Discover Card to begin with so this is why I know it is a scam.
Do not give any of your information out. Instead, check your own credit transactions online or call the number on the back of your card or Discover services themselves.
