I was just called today from these same people. I got a call first on my cell from a "Private Number", when answered, this lady told me that a collection agency had been trying to reach me and this was the final attempt. She gave me the number to PNC Capital Group with an account number. When I called the lady was talking very fast and said I had taken out a loan back in 2008 first, then she said it was taken out back in 1997 and payments had been made until January of 2010. Every time I tried to ask her a question she would cut me off and after trying again with a raised voice she said she would not be yelled at and hung up on me. I called back numerous times and kept getting very little bits of information from her. She said she was going to have papers served on me at my job as well. I NEVER took out a loan in 1997 or in 2008, as a matter of fact I couldn't have taken out a loan for a piece of gum in either year because of student loans. (Which are current by the way, and nothing is showing in the negative on my credit report). I think this is all a scam because she said to me that unless I was willing to set payment arrangements up, there was nothing else she would discuss with me.
Received a call from a private caller did not answer it. Received a call from my mother moments later stating someone called her from a private line wanting to know if I would be home the following day because I was to be served. I have no debts nor do I have anything in my name, they provided my mother with a callback of 626-537-2297 and name Sabrina. This all sounded weird to me so I googled the phone number and came across this page as well as many others, stating this is a scam. Please everyone out there be aware. Do not give these people your info
They claim I owe a debt of 6000+ dollars but won't send me anything in writing and they call and harass me all the time. They call my job as well. Today they said they would take 650 and stop but I don't even know what the debt is. They said I last made a payment on the credit card in 2004 but I didn't even have a credit card in 2004. There is nothing on my credit report and I need written documentation to pay something. They have hung up on me and/or screamed at me when I have asked for information about the debt and the company.
Yes, I got a call today from a restricted number. They left a voicemail and this number; 626-537-2297 saying that they were going to take legal action and that I would be served with papers between 10am-4pm tomorrow. I called back and they were claiming that they were representing Providian credit card. When I claimed that I paid off that card and closed it back in 2000, she got hostile with me and said that EVERYONE stated that fact and that it made no difference...that I owed nearly $4000. She said that I could settle today out of court for $800. I refused, stating that I would not be giving out any of my banking information without documentation. She refused to send any, stating that I would get my documentation tomorrow when I got served with legal papers. She was rude and was using clear scare tactics to get any information that she could out of me. I hung up. She then called me back and left another voicemail that I promptly deleted. I checked the number on google and found this page. I had a feeling that this was a scam and am glad to see that I was right to trust my instincts. I hope that this post helps others who are contacted by this number.
Got the same message tonight. The caller said my name wrong - old married name from nearly 15 years ago! That was the first red flag. Secondly, the address he spurted out as my address wasn't even right. I know I don't have anything in collections so I looked up the number he left and came across these posts. I will not be calling this guy back. Beware!!! I've read quite a few posts about this number being a scam.
yes they called my work looking for me, told me I was rude and not to call the office help names they called my place of employment and talked to my boss a to try and get me in trouble and my boss called me on the Nextel and said I see why you called her a [***] please let her know I agree with you I just cant say it as my name is connected to a business. after 30 more calls no really I called them 30 time they told me it was a credit card from 1999 and last payment was 07 05 2010, well we all know or should know the 7 year law.. so why would I make one payment and reactivate an old debt. they said it was due to jp morgan chase. which h all made sense. so I called chase and gave them my ssn and they said they have no record of me owing anything. chase said if they did have me in their system and it was an account in collection that it would flag them and direct them to give me the contact information. I called back and got hung up on seeral time told they were going to call local pd and so forth. well I called the fbi. and gave them the phone number they were calling from
