My husband just received an automated voicemail from a toll free number (833-698-8567) with the message "Hey (that right there aroused my suspicion) this is Officer Catherine Richardson badge number FBI002569 from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This message has been sent to you as a final notification of your case with the Department of Tax and Crime Investigation. Right now your physical address is under investigation and an arrest warrant has been issued under your name. For further queries and resolving this case, contact the below number for the Tax and Crime Investigation Department. 833-698-8567. I repeat, 833-698-8567. Thank you." I quoted this message verbatim. This message was left on July 10, 2017 at 11:15am. This was immediately suspicious, as I've dealt with the FBI before (I was not at fault lol) and any time they reference a "case", they leave a case number for you to reference. Not only that, but if an "officer" were actually calling, it wouldn't have been a robocall and they certainly wouldn't have started the message with an informal "hey".
It seems these people changed up their script a little bit, but they're still a joke. I will be reporting this call to the REAL FBI and hopefully they catch these [***]! It is NOT ok to be calling innocent people and giving them near-heart attacks, trying to commit fraud!
I received a call from 844-597-7623, Ofc Catherine Richardson FBI #002569, from the Bureau of Investigation telling me this was my final notification in regard to a case against me with the Dept. of Tax and that there is a crime investigation right now and that my physical address is under investigation and that I had a warrant out for my arrest! Really?! Where do these idiots come from?
