so if you are smart enough to come onto this site and look up the number that spammed you, then you should be smart enough to know you shouldn't be answering your phone to these scammers and talking to them - you probably just verified who you were to them by saying "YESSSSSS" when they ask "Mr or Mrs so and so????" . and you definitely gave them a reason to add your number to the list of people who pick up their phone so now you will get all the more calls as they add your name to list after list, and because you spoke to them they know you speak english so you go on the english speaking list...and they also know now you are a male or female so you go on that list and whatever targets they have for gender scams...........these list goes on .
If you have an answering machine - let it do its job and screen your calls.
If you don't recognize the number, don't answer the phone. If they are legit they will leave a message if not they will hang up and keep calling and that's when you look them up on here and when you verify its a scammer - you block them.
This call just came in and because its on a blocked area code list on my call blocking device it went straight to being blocked - i looked here to see if it was perhaps not a scammer and maybe someone legit and behold all the 800 notes saying this is a new scammer, so they are now deterred from calling me because they only get disconnected every time and i get some extra sleep!!!! Let them keep trying.
Had i recognized it to be a possibly valid number from a credit card or bank, i would have called that agency directly using the number on my card or bank statement to see if there was a valid issue they were trying to reach me about and then i would know I am giving my information to a valid authorized person that I called using a valid number.
ANNOYING???? yes but keep answering the phone and talking to them hoping get someone to tell them to take your name off the list and all you do is feed into them and make it worse.
