I'm the first? Well, surely won't be the last. I just received (on my Do-Not-Call state and national listed mobile phone) a call, robo-initiated, the recording which I hung up on saying in a cheerful voice, "Hi, this is Sherrie from Google Advertising". The Caller ID did not mention Google or Sherrie, but a deception: call from the (something) area - maybe Plainview or something similar, with which I'm totally unfamiliar. Weirdly, after blocking and reporting this number as a do-not-call violator (Google being about as big and bad as it gets!), the caller ID no longer displayed the first id (location) but simply says "mobile". They've got great technology, horrid ethics at Google (especially, you'd think, from the "don't do evil" company!) Spam!!
I was awaiting a call from a company's customer service (didn't know where there office was located; this number said Palmdale Area) so I picked it up.
There was a recording about an Google advertising alert. Hung up right away. It's not actually from Google.
Not the first call from "Palmdale Area". No message left. Reminds me of a time I took a call and someone wanted to come and sell me something. I gave him the address of the University I was attending. Wonder if he ever found the right building?
