I'm the first? Well, surely won't be the last. I just received (on my Do-Not-Call state and national listed mobile phone) a call, robo-initiated, the recording which I hung up on saying in a cheerful voice, "Hi, this is Sherrie from Google Advertising". The Caller ID did not mention Google or Sherrie, but a deception: call from the (something) area - maybe Plainview or something similar, with which I'm totally unfamiliar. Weirdly, after blocking and reporting this number as a do-not-call violator (Google being about as big and bad as it gets!), the caller ID no longer displayed the first id (location) but simply says "mobile". They've got great technology, horrid ethics at Google (especially, you'd think, from the "don't do evil" company!) Spam!!
Caller ID says Pamdale Area, when I got a live person they asked if I was the sole business owner of the company. When I asked which company since I work for several the guy just hung up on me. When I call the number back they just as if you want to be put on the Do Not Call list. You would think Google would take some action on this.
Even though this number is blocked in my cell phone, I get a call from this company every 2 weeks. I use a free googleplaystore app, Mr. Number. The app blocks phone numbers, area codes, private or unlisted numbers. It's still irritating to see these calls on my phone. I received 4 spam calls today. Horrible!
The do not call Registry does not block sales calls to businesses. I've saved this number to my caller ID under "scam" so if they call again I'll know to ignore it.
