Got a call this morning from a dude with a thick Indian accent just saying I need to call whatever 800 number. I just deleted it. I've already worked out payments with creditors, so don't know what this is?!
Received call from this number at 8:15 am. Caller had an unusual foreign accent and asked for someone with my last name but a different first name. He also gave an address in a different municipality. When I told him no one with that name lived here, he asked if I knew anyone with that name. I explained the address was 20 miles from me and I did not. I assume they were going through the phone book and calling everyone with the same last name within my area code. Just for grins, thought I would look up the number and found this site. As long as they don't call back, I don't care. It's good to know who they are and what's going on.
if they harass you, file a complaint with the Better Business online.
https://odr.bbb.org/odrweb/public/complaintlink.aspx
put in their number and name, then state they are harassing you.
they have to reply to the complaint and normally have a "copy and paste" letter of how they will not call your number again.
american express started me out at a 11.9% apr then jumped to 31.something without negotiation tried to get hundreds of dollars a month. yea, ok.
it takes 3 minutes to relive weeks/months of annoying anguish.
This number is a personal cell phone of "Vic" a debt collector of Indian descent ( quickie mart type, not native American). I know because he called me about an old Workers Comp covered medical bill from 2002. He called first from Bay Area Credit 1-800-697-1234 and when I insulted him enough (after sending them a validation, cease and desist letter over a month ago). He called me back on his cell phone, so that he wouldn't be on Bay Area Credit's recorders (and was dumb enough not block his number from my caller ID) and tried to harass me somemore. Peple don't put up with this, file a complaint online with the US goverment at www.ftc.gov
